FULL BOXWOOD: Our first set was fully mounted with boxwood, later retrofitted with plain steel slides and mouthpiece tube. All boxwood mounts are threaded on.

HALF ALUMINIUM: Our second set has blackwood button mounts, originally fitted with half plain steel, but just recently fitted with hand engraved aluminium. Again, all of the mounts, including the blackwood button mounts, are threaded on.

HALF SILVER & SATINWOOD: Our third set is mounted in half David Marshall silver and satinwood. All satinwood mounts are threaded on.

FULL ALUMINIUM: The most recent set is fully mounted in hand engraved Aluminium. Again, all mounts are threaded on.

"My wife and I own 4 sets of custom MacPhersons, 2 set up as solo pipes and 2 set up as band pipes. Douglas and Jan have been a delight to work with over the last 4 years, with nothing being too much trouble with regard to customising particular details on our pipes.

I have sold another 5 sets of MacPhersons to local pipers, each of whom were ecstatic with their purchase. The workmanship is outstanding, with excellent combing and beading, balanced proportions and consistent spacing between mounts and combing. Tonewise, these are big bored pipes with a very strong sound depending on the reed set up. They have proven to be excellent with regard to stability, air efficiency and the ability to tame otherwise harsh sounding synthetic reeds. I'm more than happy to recommend Douglas MacPherson pipes to anyone - particularly those who want more than a run of the mill product."
